LOCATION
Located in the Kosciuzko National Park, Perisher is only a 2 1/2 hour drive south of Canberra and a 6 hour drive from Sydney. Once you reach Jindabyne, the gateway to the mountains, you are only 33 kilometres away from the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere. Only 1.5 kilometres from Perisher Valley is Smiggin Holes, a favourite amongst families and first timers. A continual complimentary shuttle bus operates between the two areas from 7.30am to 6pm (10pm on night skiing/snowboarding days). |
2009 RATES NOW AVAILABLE |
How To Get There
First choose your mode of transport from your state, including flights to Canberra or Cooma, Coach or Self Drive.
FLY/coach: Most airlines service Canberra Airport from major Australian cities. Cooma Airport is approximately 1 hour from Perisher and is serviced by Regional Express Airlines. Relax and let someone else do the driving as coach transfers to and from both airports can be arranged. See page 7 for more information.
SELF DRIVE: The Kosciuszko Road from Jindabyne to Perisher is fully sealed and all vehicles (AWDs and 4WDs exempt) are legally required to carry chains in the National Park. Please note ALL vehicles are recommended to carry snow chains in the case of heavy snow conditions with Park Oficers directing traffic to chain fitting bays. It is advised to check with National Parks in Jindabyne prior to ascending the road and hire chains if necessary in Jindabyne. If you are driving into the park, you will also need to pay an
Entry Fee – $27/day/car or $190/annual pass. This can be paid at the Gatesor at the National Parks Centre in Jindabyne. |

Parking At Perisher Blue
On snow overnight parking at Perisher Valley and Smiggin Holes is limited to very few properties, please check when booking. We recommend using the Skitube, a convenient train ride from Bullocks Flat, which is situated outside the National Park and approximately 20 kilometres from Jindabyne via the Alpine Way. On arrival at the Perisher Valley Skitube Terminal, check the accommodation board for a courtesy phone or proceed to the Hans Oversnow desk to arrange transport to your accommodation (paid for on arrival). |
 |
The Skitube
The Skitube is an electric powered cog/rack driven railway system providing access between the Alpine Way and Perisher Valley by way of a tunnel through the Ramshead Range to Perisher Ski Resort, stopping at the underground station in Perisher Valley then proceeds onwards to the resort of Blue Cow Mountain.
Park for FREE in the security patrolled and floodlit carpark at Bullocks Flat, then catch the frequent train services which head up through a long tunnel direct to Perisher Valley and onto Blue Cow travelling time is approximately 10 minutes).
The Skitube operates a regular timetable throughout the Snow Season with departures every 20 minutes during the day and busy periods. No advance bookings are necessary and payment is made direct at the train departure terminals. In order to maximise passenger comfort and safety, luggage restrictions will apply during peak operational periods. |
