Cortina
Known as the most cosmopolitan of Italy’s ski resorts, Cortina is an elegant town with an abundance of restaurants and après ski nightlife. The Cortina ski area is part of the Dolomiti Superski Pass, the largest single ski pass area in the world.
Cortina rivals any other resort in the Alps and is lovingly referred to as ‘Queen of the Dolomites’. Magnificently located and surrounded by spectacular peaks that rise nearly 2000 metres above the village, this up market, picturesque resort offers long, easy, well-groomed runs for beginners and leisurely intermediates. For experienced skiers, who wish to practise “extreme skiing”, you will find in Cortina some of the most breathtaking back-country excursions in the world. Cortina d’Apezzo has a great variety of winter activities for guests to indulge in after a day of skiing, with a great emphasis on excellent wine tasting, fantastic Italian cuisine and entertainment. Other great winter activities on offer include Taxi-Bob, crazy sledge, snow rafting and ice-skating.
This ski resort is made up of four very distinct ski areas, each offering a radically different ski experience, from skiing below the tree line, down the beautiful valleys, to groomed runs above and below the tree line. Faloria-Cristallo-Mietres; Tofana-Socrepes; Lagazuoi and Cinque Torri all connect by both lift and skibus service. Tofana is the place for intermediates
to head to for good snow cover and an open bowl. Perfect piste grooming and a massive amount of snow making facilities ensure that you are in for a smooth ride whilst cruising around the picturesque Dolomiti ski area. Beginners will find nursery slopes galore at Socrepes and some great pickings of gentles blue runs throughout the ski areas for you to get stuck into.
Campitello di Fassa
The village is towered by the imposing massive structure of the Sassolungo, one of the most charming mountain vistas in the Dolomites. The area has modern ski lifts on an up-to-date snow covering system, which can guarantee early season coverage.
Located in the north-east of Italy, these spectacular mountains have numerous scattered resort villages, most of which link into one of the world’s largest ski regions with over 464 lifts. All can be skied on the Dolomiti Superski Pass.
Skiing in the Val di Fassa, in the Dolomites, the world’s most beautiful mountains, is a unique experience. Campitello di Fassa is part of the Sella Ronda circuit, which provides 175 kilometres of groomed slopes. Most of the terrain is perfectly suited for intermediate skiers. Campitello is linked to Canazei, just two kilometres away, but is a much quieter village than its neighbour. It is a traditional, unspoilt ski resort, with great restaurants and food that has created an elite clientele over the last few years, thanks to the opening of numerous prestigious hotels. In fact, the highest concentration of four-star hotels, offering the utmost comfort and hospitality can be found here.
The town is surrounded by the spires of Sassolungo, making Campitello di Fassa an unmistakable location. In winter the Col Rodella Ski Area can be reached from the village in just a few minutes using the modern cable car. This ski area is also directly linked to the nearby Belvedere Ski Area as well as to Sella Ronda. There are also some very good beginner slopes in Campitello.
